A Lady was admitted with severe Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome. Her urine output is 15 mL/ hour for the last 12 hours. She is getting an adequate fluid replacement. On examination, there is a tense ascites. What is the next most appropriate step?
Oliguria despite adequate fluid replacement may in some cases respond to paracentesis. Indications for paracentesis include the following:
1. severe abdominal distension and abdominal pain secondary to ascites;
2. shortness of breath and respiratory compromise secondary to ascites and increased intra-abdominal pressure;
3. oliguria despite adequate volume replacement, secondary to increased abdominal pressure causing reduced renal perfusion
